Warner Leisure Hotels, the leading short breaks operator, is supporting the nation's leading Armed Forces charity, The Royal British Legion, for a fourth year running.
Throughout 2016 across all 13 of its picturesque UK properties, Warner Leisure Hotels will champion the partnership by hosting a variety of fundraising events and activities ranging from fitness events, hosting afternoon teas and holding charity car washes.
In 2013, Warner pledged to raise over £30,000 to help support the Legion's vital work, providing practical care and support to those who have dedicated their lives to serving our country and their families. We are delighted to announce that to date, Warner team members and guests have raised over £500,000, an absolutely incredible amount.
To celebrate this fundraising milestone, representatives from Warner Leisure Hotels and The Royal British Legion visited the Battle Back Centre. Attendees took part in a range of sports and adventurous activities and experienced first hand how Warner’s fundraising efforts support the vital work of the Legion.
Chris Joynson, Recovery Operations Manager at The Battle Back Centre said:
“The Battle Back Centre was set up to help Service personnel suffering physical and mental illness, sustained through their Service. Our vital work could not take place without the generous donations of supporters like Warner Leisure Hotels, and we’re incredibly grateful to be working together.”
Neil Harrison, a veteran and beneficiary of The Battle Back Centre added:
“I can truly say that my time at Battle Back was a real turning point in my life; it not only helped me and greatly improved my quality of life, but also helped my family, who had been so worried about what I had been going through. As such a great supporter of the Legion, I’d like to thank Warner Leisure Hotels for helping the charity to offer such vital support.”
Simon Thompson, Managing Director of Warner Leisure Hotels, commented on the achievement;
“After just four months we smashed the annual fundraising target and are delighted to have gone on to raise over half a million pounds for RBL. On behalf of Warner Leisure Hotels, I’d like to thank all of the team and guests for their generosity and input, as without them this great achievement wouldn’t have happened.”
The Royal British Legion has spent over £90 million on health and welfare - that's £1.7 million every week!
