Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle is the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world and makes for the perfect day trip. Observe the Changing the Guard ceremony, tour the State Apartments and Semi-State rooms and admire St George’s Chapel, set in the grounds of the majestic Castle.

Magna Carta
3 min drive from The Runnymede on Thames, TW20 0YU
Just a 40 minute walk along the river you can visit the historical site which witnessed King John’s sealing of Magna Carta in 1215. This was a charter to make peace between the King and a group of barons and it is seen by many as a vital step in achieving what we know as democracy today.

Hampton Court Palace

Home to Henry VIII, Hampton Court Palace sits further along the River Thames. Wander through the palace learning about the wives and children of Henry VIII. For those brave enough, the Haunted Gallery is said to be haunted by Henry VIII’s fifth wife who was executed at the Tower of London. A visit isn’t complete without wandering through the beautiful gardens, with 60 acres of formal gardens and 750 acres of historic parkland.

The very best rooms in the house - ideal for those wanting to ‘splash-out’ or celebrate a special occasion. Generous in space, and with unique features you wouldn’t find in just any room. These rooms boast a super king size bed as well as a sofa for two with coffee table.

We had a great stay at Runnymede. The hotel was lovely and felt really comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was fresh and tasty. We enjoyed exploring the grounds and the local area. The theatre was nice, and the fire in the lounge was a cosy touch. The Wild Boys performance was brilliant, though the sound was a bit loud at times. Overall, we had a very enjoyable time.”

Savour quality produce and beautifully presented dishes with a contemporary twist on British cuisine. With à la carte dining and attentive table service, every meal here feels like a special occasion. The restaurant decor is modern and bright, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, enhanced by natural light from large windows that overlook Bell Weir Lock. In the summer, the doors open onto the Riverside Terrace for al fresco dining with a view.
At breakfast, help yourself to pastries, fruit juices and more from the breakfast buffet, and then order from a wonderful selection of classic and hearty dishes to start the day. At dinner, enjoy a three-course meal from a varied a la carte menu, with most options included with your break and some options and sides that carry an additional supplement. Afternoon tea is also available in this elegant restaurant for an additional supplement, and is the ideal riverside spot for a decadent afternoon enjoying local delicacies in a relaxed atmosphere.

Begin your morning with an array of continental choices, including fresh pastries and cereals, plus a selection of juices and hot drinks before you head to the hot counter for much-loved favourites including warming porridge, fluffy omelettes, or a hearty Full English. At dinner, menus change daily offering an array of dishes throughout your stay, with carefully-crafted chef’s specials adding even more variety to your table. Starters are freshly made to order, or you can head to the deli counter for a collection of colourful salads, quiches, cold meats and more. Accessibility: How accessible are the facilities at The Runnymede on Thames?
The Runnymede Hotel is partially accessible due to the layout of the property and grounds.
We always do absolutely everything we can to make your life as easy as possible – and if there’s anything else you need, feel free to ask for help from a member of our friendly team.
Parking and entering our hotel
We’ve positioned four accessible parking spaces very close to our main reception entrance. Wheelchair users can enter our disabled access hotel through our main entrance and our forecourt and is on one easy level.
Checking in
If you prefer, we’re just as happy to come around the other side of the Reception desk to check you in. For guests using hearing aids we have induction loops at our main reception desk.
Bedrooms
There are no ground floor bedrooms at The Runnymede on Thames . However, we do have four accessible bedrooms for guests who might require these, two of which are riverside rooms offering uninterrupted views of the river. These guest rooms are accessible via the lift. Please note that the dimensions of the lifts are: doorways 0.8m wide; depth 1.07m. These rooms offer you:
- Wider doorways – easy access for wheelchairs
- A large bathroom with suitable taps, sanitary ware and grab handles
- Call assistance alarm system from your bathroom and bedroom
- Alexa for Hospitality in each room
- Text displays and hotel information displayed on a television screen
- Visual fire alarm warning for guests with a hearing impediment
- Readers, guiders, and menus and other documents in large clear print, for guests with a visual impairment.
- Fully controllable lighting and air conditioning
Public areas
Our main reception, The Live Lounge entertainment venue, The Riverside Lounge, and both Market Kitchen and Brasserie32 restaurant are easily accessible to everyone and are all on one level. There’s ramped access to the terraces and riverside areas.
Toilet facilities
You’ll find three unisex accessible toilets on the ground floor. One is just beside reception, opposite Brasserie32, and the other two are in The Live Lounge bar and entertainment area.
Access to the spa and fitness centre
Both the spa and fitness centre are spacious and all on one level with wide doorways. Please note that there is no pool hoist for the swimming pool. We currently don’t have any equipment or toilet or shower facilities specifically designed for wheelchair users. The nearest toilet with disabled access is near reception opposite Brasserie32.

Boat hire and skippered boat trips are available for hire on a seasonal basis, from early May to the end of August.

When is the outdoor pool open at The Runnymede on Thames?
The outdoor pool is in operation on a seasonal basis. All guests staying at The Runnymede on Thames can use the pool free of charge. Dependent on weather, the pool will operate from early May to the end of August.
Can I visit the hotel for the day?
Yes - you can visit all our hotels as a non-resident.
We welcome walk-ins at our Riverside Lounge from 10am-5pm Tuesday to Thursday. The Riverside Lounge features our cosy coffee shop, The Coffee Nest, as well as a fully stocked bar with a range of soft drinks, beers, wines and spirits. Sit back in comfort and enjoy exceptional drinks and treats in a vibrant but relaxing atmostphere.
