Started by parents Chris and Cheryl, and now run by their three daughters Hannah, Kitty, and Cleo, Snugburys ice cream has become a local icon. They offer almost 40 flavours, with a dedicated on-site kitchen making fresh ingredients for that unique Snugburys flavour.

Cotebrook Shire Horses

22-min drive from Alvaston Hall, CW6 9DP

Between 20 and 30 horses inhabit Cotebrook at any given time, and form the centrepiece of a truly unique day out. Learn all about the history of Shires from Alistair and Janet King, who together have been breeding champion horses for over 50 years.

Dagsfields Crafts & Antiques

15-min drive from Alvaston Hall, CW5 7LG

The largest crafts and antiques centre in the North West, Dagsfield is home to over 250 dealers and 25 craft workshops. Homemade food is served in the tea rooms and restaurant, so you could spend the whole day here (although even then you might not make it round every shop).

Anderton Boat Lift

35-min drive from Alvaston Hall, CW9 6FW

One of only two working boat lifts in the UK (and a lot closer to Alvaston than Falkirk), the Cathedral of the Canals won ‘experience of the year’ in 2019, with its accompanying visitors centre and coffee shop situated right next to the Anderton Nature Park.
